MAC, if done by Spectre or Magic Sac, will gladly take a TOS partition (empty I hope), destroy it, and make it its own. At which time it will be known as ACK. SO, You must have a partition for MAC, and at least one for TOS/PC-Ditto. Because of how MAC uses partitions I would recommend: 30 Meg total: First for TOS, will be called C: 10 meg or so Second for TOS, will be called D: 9 meg or so. Or just one for 19 Meg. (16 meg max for TOS 1.1) Use TOS for PC-Ditto. Third for MAC, 1 meg: used to 'boot' up mac. -- read manual. Forth for MAC, 9 meg: or more; use for data storage. (The more the better). > Another question...before the hard drive I had a RAMDISK program in my auto > qwfoldewhich gave me a C: Ramdisk. Is the RAMDISK supposed to be logically before the Hard drive > partitions? So do I have to re-format the HD with new drive letters? The letters are assigned by TOS and the driver. It is not in the partitioning. First TOS partition is C: Second TOS partition is D: If the partitions are labeled in a different order, first TOS means just that, not the FIRST one. A Ramdisk must be COMPILED or CONFIGURED for is letter. if you want it to be G:, and do not know how to configure it, its probably hardwired to be C:. Get another RAMDISK. Howard C. It is called Sci-Plot, on the Nov 88 Start disk. I would order the back issue, if possible, to get the program instructions (inside the mag). It is a very capable program, giving one access to a custom font set which includes greek letters and math symbols (one can also create a new font for a specific task). The only problem that I can see is the output to your Deskjet. I seem to remember that it can output to the printer in high or low res (??), and that the high res looks really good (on my cruddy dot matrix) it can also create a PI3 dump of the graph. Anyway, if you cannot get a back issue of that mag, email me direct, and maybe we can work something out. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------+------------------------------------- Mickey Boyd | "Nobody can be exactly like me. It is a very well behaved program, and is one of the little necessities (USII, G+PLUS, Neodesk) that makes the ST just a little bit easier to work with. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------+------------------------------------- Mickey Boyd | "Nobody can be exactly like me. (I suspect 100ns) Also if I use faster memory such as 70ns will asyncronous tasks such as burst filling a 16Mhz Hypercache or DMA access will these be faster? With the new MMU in the STe and spare/reserved bit patterns in the memory configuration can the STE's memory be expanded beyond 4MB. (I guess adding a new bank size of 8MB would be possible thus allowing the full 16MB of address space.) any comments? Many Thanks Dave H. Message-ID: <1990Feb24.220635.21908@newcastle.ac.uk> During the last few weeks a great amount of band width has been taken up on the subject of TOS bugs and the coresponding fixes. Being an owner of an STE (I previously owned a STfm) I would realy apriciate a list of known bugs and the required fix program. So which of the following effect TOS 1.6. RTS/CTS problem on the RS232. Pool size bug (as per FolderXXX fix) Pool bug (as per POOLFIX3) Medium res bug. Also I have noticed that when double clicking on a .prg file I am sometimes told that this file can only be SHOWN or PRINTED. Yet if I try it again (Or perhaps a few times) it will run fine. Any others I have missed out. So, which fixes are required and where can I obtain them? Would it be possible to bundle all of these into an archive and post it to com.sys.binaries.atari.st. (as was done with the TOS 1.4 fixes recently) and if so perhaps bundle the following also. New STE control panel. (Atari uk have yet to supply me with one I sent my disk of some 5 weeks ago.) CACHnnn.prg (Hard disk cache.) Many thanks. Dave H. (D.C.Halliday@newcastle.ac.uk) ------------------------------ End of INFO-ATARI16 Digest V90 Issue #256 *****************************************
